Privacy policy

Odo is an independently developed app (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Odo mobile app and this website, getodo.app. Questions? Email support@getodo.app.

Odo does not require an account and contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Your trips, routes, vehicles, and location history are never transmitted anywhere.

The single exception is crash reporting. When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a diagnostic report through Sentry, our error-monitoring provider, so we can find and fix the bug. A report contains technical information about the failure:

• The error and the code path that produced it (a stack trace).
• Device model, operating system version, and Odo version.
• A random identifier used to group repeated crashes from the same install. It is not linked to you and does not follow you across apps.

Crash reports never include your location, trips, vehicles, routes, exports, or the contents of anything you type. We have disabled Sentry's optional collection of personally identifying information, along with its performance tracing and session replay features. Reports are used only to diagnose and fix defects, and are never sold or shared for advertising.

Odo is a mileage tracker, so this deserves its own section. When you record a trip with GPS, Odo asks for while-in-uselocation permission and reads your position only between the moment you tap Start and the moment you tap Stop. So you can navigate with your maps app, a recording keeps measuring while Odo is in the background — iOS shows its location indicator in the status bar the whole time. Odo never asks for “Always” access, and there is no always-on tracking or automatic drive detection. The route's distance and your chosen start/end labels are computed and stored on your device. Your location is never transmitted anywhere, to us or anyone else — not in a crash report, and not through any other code path in the app. If you never use GPS recording (manual and odometer entry work fine without it), Odo never touches location at all.

Everything you create in Odo — trips, vehicles, frequent routes, settings — is stored in a local database on your device. It is included in your device backups (e.g. iCloud or encrypted local backups) under the standard iOS backup rules you control. Deleting the app permanently deletes this data from your device.

CSV and PDF reports are generated entirely on your device. When you share one — with your accountant, by email, to your files — that copy goes where you send it, under your control. We never see it.

Odo's one-time unlock is sold through the Apple App Store (and, in the future, Google Play). Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. We never see your name, payment details, or billing address.

getodo.app is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and requested page) to operate and secure the service, as described in the provider's own privacy documentation.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and keep it only as long as needed to help you. We never add you to mailing lists or share your address.

Odo is a tax-utility app aimed at working adults, but it is suitable for all ages. The app has no account system and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Crash reports contain only technical diagnostics about a failure, never personal details, and we make no attempt to identify who sent one.

Privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA give you rights over personal data a company holds about you. Everything you create in Odo is already fully in your hands, on your device, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete. We hold no account records. Crash reports are technical diagnostics that are not linked to your identity, so we generally cannot connect one to a particular person — but if you contact us with the details, we will locate and delete any report we can identify as yours. Support emails you have sent us will also be deleted on request.

If we ever change how Odo works in a way that affects privacy, we will update this policy first and note the change prominently here and in the app's release notes. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.

• September 10, 2026 — a GPS recording now keeps measuring while you switch to another app (such as your maps app), until you tap Stop. Still while-in-use permission only; location stays on your device.
• September 9, 2026 — added crash reporting (Sentry) so we can find and fix bugs. No change to how your trips or location are handled: they remain on your device only, and never appear in a crash report.
• July 11, 2026 — first version of this policy.
